OUR LOWER EAST SIDE NEW YORK CITY GUIDE

Hotel Indigo Lower East Side

In partnership with Hotel Indigo.

ALSO SUBTITLED, HOW WE ATE OUR BODY WEIGHT IN BAGELS, PIZZA, AND MATCHA LEMONADES THROUGHOUT THE LOWER EAST SIDE.

In the span of 48 hours, we drank six Matcha Lemonades from Cha Cha Matcha, ate two pizzas at Pizza Beach, two burgers from The Fat Radish, four bagels from Russ & Daughters, and drank six cucumber and rose mezcal margaritas from Casa Mezcal.

WHICH, in the scheme of our everyday life, doesn’t seem like that much. We didn’t push ourselves hard enough. Slackers. SLACKERS.

Regardless, Hotel Indigo invited us out to NYC to experience their Lower East Side property last week (in time for their final Uber Summer Series concert featuring St. Lucia). With a rooftop pool and a super-duper-chic bar named MR. PURPLE, floor-to-ceiling windows in our hotel room, and an incredibly central location amidst all of the LES galleries, restaurants and shops, we’re happy to say, we are OBSESSED with Hotel Indigo Lower East Side 😀

(FACT: we’ll be back in October for Chris’ birthday, booking the trip on our own. AHHHH)

But, for two days, we ran around the hotel’s LES neighborhood, and we’re ready now to impart some wisdom.

Here are our top picks for WHERE TO GO IN THE LOWER EAST SIDE, NEW YORK CITY:

FOOD
Pizza Beach: we’ll go to ANY beach that has pizza. Decked out in pastels and tropical vibes. Order the Salumi Picante or the Pineapple & Speck pizzas!

The Lucky Bee: inspired by the Land Down Under, we’re pretty sure all of the staff is Australian? Regardless, the restaurant’s design is incredible — everything’s basically pink, with an added slice of pineapple and bumblebee decor. SO. GOOD. Order the Steamed Pork and Sesame Dumplings.

The Fat Radish: the perfect lunch spot. Simple, no frills, in a restaurant that almost feels like a climate-controlled greenhouse in the back. Order the burger. ORDER THE BURGER.

Russ & Daughters: what can we say. The best bagels we’ve had in NYC. Order any of their ‘Boards.’

DRINK
Casa Mezcal: SUCH a surprising little find. Lit up with lights everywhere in side, specializing in Mezcal. Order the Cucumber or Rose Margaritas.

Cha Cha Matcha: the PERFECT combination of pinks and greens and Cha Cha Cha EVERYWHERE. We went every single day we were in NYC. EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. Order the Matcha Lemonade.

MR. PURPLE: panoramic views of the city and the Lower East Side, the BEST fries, and a really good frozen margarita. Order the frozen margarita.

SHOPPING
Assembly New York: very trendy. A little stuffy. But, full of so many good vintage finds.

Vaute: we’re HOOKED on Vaute now. Vegan haute couture that doesn’t try to reinvent ‘pleather.’ Check out their coats.

Green Fingers Market: AHHH, such a cute little garden store. Succulents and cacti and ferns and more. PLUS, tons of vintage clothing finds in the back.

GRAFITTI / COLORFUL WALLS
@buffmonster’s Studio
: located at the corner of Bowery and Broome. We took THIS Instagram here 😉

Portrait of Nick Wooster: on the door of Hotel Chantelle, 92 Ludlow.

Essex Street Market: PINK AND BABY BLUE AND PALM TREES. Not to mention, the market plays host to dozens of market stalls inside, full of cheeses, meats and produce. Located at 120 Essex Street.
